CENTRAL ASIAN INTELLIGENCE INDICATES TERRORIST OSAMA BIN LADEN MAY HAVE NUKES because there is information he's had meetings with the so-called Russian Mafia, a group of thugs and former Soviet Union  officials who are believed to have been in possession of nuclear bombs. This, analysts say, means bin Laden may have purchased small nuclear weapons: the legendary "briefcase" bombs -- so described because they resemble briefcases but contain nuclear devices believed to equal about one megaton -- which were reported missing from the former Soviet Union years ago. The US and other nations have been warned about the possibility, according to Fox News.

A CASE OF ANTHRAX HAS TURNED UP IN THE US. A 63-year-old man is hospitalized in critical condition in  Florida, diagnosed with pulmonary anthrax. Anthrax, a bacteria that forms a toxin in the blood, has been mentioned as a possible terrorist weapon. The incubation period for anthrax can be between 48 hours and 60 days. But Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson said he believes this to be an "isolated" case, rather than evidence of a terrorist attack. There were only 18 cases of inhaled anthrax reported in the US during the entire 20th century. The bacteria is not contageous.

MEANWHILE, THE SEARCH CONTINUES FOR A CROPDUSTING PLANE missing since early Monday when it took off from an area near the Bahamas, headed for southern Florida.

SEVENTY-SIX PEOPLE -- FIFTY OF THEM ISRAELIS -- ARE FEARED DEAD IN THE EXPLOSION OF A RUSSIAN PLANE that was en route from Israel to Siberia. The plane crashed into the Black Sea. It's not believed to have been a terrorist attack.  A US military official said Thursday the plane may have been downed by a Ukranian surface-to-air missile fired during military exercises. But Ukranian officials deny the possibility.

The flight landed in New Delhi and was surrounded by police in an isolated area at a New Delhi airport, but a TV report in Bombay now says despite initial reports that the plane was hijacked, it's now said the story was either a hoax caused by terrorism jitters and a phone call that claimed the plane had been hijacked. Police now say all is well.

SIX PEOPLE ARE DEAD AFTER A PASSENGER ATTACKED THE DRIVER OF A GREYHOUND BUS, CAUSING THE BUS TO CRASH. Investigators at the scene of the crash in central Tennessee, which include FBI agents, said the attack on the driver, whose throat was slashed, was probably not a terrorist act; the attacker held a Coatian passport. He was reportedly killed in the crash. Greyhound immediately halted all bus service, but allowed the buses to roll again shortly after one PM, ET.
