20,000 EMPLOYEES, about 20-percent of its workforce as
the airline industry continues to cut back after projecting
greatly diminished air travel during the coming months following the
suicide-destruction of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, CNN
reports. This, on the heels of announcements that Continental
Airlines is cutting 12-thousand jobs and may file for bankruptcy and
US Airways expects to lay off eleven-thousand employees, all within
one week. Two United planes were involved in last week's terrorist
acts.
BOTH AMERICAN AND NORTHWEST
AIRLINES ARE EXPECTED TO ANNOUNCE LAYOFFS
by the end of the week. Airlines, with falling air travel even
before last Tuesday's terrorism and new pay increases to union
pilots and flight attendants, are clamoring for billions of dollars
in federal aid and loan guarantees in order, they say, to stay in
business.
PHILIPPINE AUTHORITIES WARNED THE
FBI SIX YEARS AGO of possible
terrorist attacks aimed at hijacking airliners and slamming them
into the Pentagon, according to CNN. Philippine
authorities found out about the plot after a fire at an apartment

THE CHANCE OF ANYONE STILL BEING
ALIVE AMONG THE RUBBLE OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER IS VERY, VERY SMALL,
New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani admitted Tuesday.
THE FBI IS WARNING COMPUTER
USERS OF A NEW WORM THAT COULD WIPE OUT ENTIRE WEBSITES. Dubbed
W32.Nimda, the worm infects servers and computers using
Microsoft's Internet Information Server software used to manage
Internet pages. The virus attacks 16 points of vulnerability in the
software, aggressively embedding itself in files and transferring
itself to other servers. It can be spread by Email and could allow
hackers access to servers. The FBI notes the worm is unrelated to
last week's terrorism. If
a computer's Outlook program hasn't been given the March Microsoft
patch, the operator's simple opening of an Email containing the worm
activates it.
AFGHANISTAN'S RULING TALIBAN IS
SETTING TERMS FOR TURNING MASS MURDERER OSAMA BIN LADEN OVER TO THE
UNITED STATES: They want bin Laden to be tried in an Islamic
country. And they want "proof" that bin Laden was behind
the Trade Center and Pentagon terrorist attacks.
AND THE TALIBAN ARE CLAIMING
THEY'LL LAUNCH A HOLY WAR AGAINST AMERICA if the US attacks, but
experts say Taleban doesn't have that strong a hold over its people.
